Paul’s Bespoke Striped Splashback & Upstands
Paul wanted the new splashback and upstands in his Northern Ireland lodge to complement a striped pattern already used elsewhere in the interior. We worked with him to create a similar lined design that could run behind the cooker and around the kitchen for a coordinated finish.
Project completed June 2026
When Paul needed a new splashback for the kitchen in his Northern Ireland lodge, he already had a clear idea of the look he wanted. Rather than introducing a completely different colour or pattern, he wanted the new glass to complement a striped design that was already being used elsewhere in the lodge.
The project also involved more than just the area behind the cooker. Paul wanted matching glass upstands to continue around the kitchen, so it was important that the finished design worked as a complete feature rather than as a standalone splashback.
Matching the existing interior
Paul provided us with the existing pattern he wanted to work from, and we set about creating a design with a similar striped and lined appearance.
Matching an existing interior design is not always as simple as selecting a colour from a chart. The spacing, direction and proportions of the lines all needed to feel right so that the new splashback complemented the lodge rather than looking like a separate design.
We worked through the details with Paul until we arrived at a pattern that captured the style he was looking for and sat naturally alongside the existing decor.
A splashback and matching upstands
Once the design had been agreed, it was used for both the main glass splashback behind the cooker and the matching upstands around the kitchen.
Using the same artwork across each piece helps tie the different areas of the kitchen together. The striped pattern continues around the worktops, giving the finished room a much more coordinated and considered appearance.
A bespoke solution for a unique kitchen
This project is a good example of how printed glass does not have to begin with one of our existing designs. If there is a pattern, colour scheme or style elsewhere in a room that you would like your splashback to complement, we can work with you to develop artwork specifically for the space.
After everything had been fitted, Paul kindly sent us a message to let us know how pleased he was with the finished result:
“All done Andy, thanks for your uncomplaining assistance, very much appreciated.”
We would like to thank Paul for choosing Vivid Splashbacks and for working with us throughout the design process. It was great to see the idea come together and create a splashback and set of upstands that feel completely at home within his Northern Ireland lodge.
